The Lancaster County Planning Commission (LCPC) is the only agency that comprehensively addresses county-wide planning issues. The Commission combines county policies with federal and state planning responsibilities to support the application of county-wide plans for the future.
A private, nonprofit membership organization, the Conservancy's mission is to preserve and protect rapidly diminishing open space and natural lands in Lancaster County, primarily for public recreation and educational use. One of the foremost agricultural land preservation organizations in the United States, the Lancaster Farmland Trust is a private, nonprofit organization working to preserve the rich and productive farmland of Lancaster County.
A unique and diverse group of community organizations and individuals drawn together by a shared interest in the future direction of Lancaster County.
Lancaster County's Historical Society and James Buchanan's Wheatland To educate the public about the heritage and history of the people, places and events that shaped our region, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States of America. Did you know that Lancaster was once the capital of the U.S.? Have you heard of the Conestoga rifle or the Conestoga Wagon? Can you name any famous local citizens who were instrumental in forging the development of our country? Come to Lancaster and we'll tell you. A department of Lancaster County government, the Agricultural Preserve Board's mission is to forever preserve the beautiful farmland and productive soil of Lancaster County. Recognizing the importance of the County's rich agricultural heritage, the Board acts to create a healthy agricultural environment for the long-term sustainability of the agricultural economy and farming as a way of life.
A nonprofit museum located in the heart of historic Penn Square in Downtown Lancaster, the Heritage Center Museum of Lancaster County is dedicated to the collection, preeservation and interpretation of Lancaster County decorative arts. The center maintains a permanent collection, stages annual exhibitions and conducts extensive educational programs.
The Lancaster County BIA is a well-respected association of local builders, developers and contractors. The trust welcomes our relationship with this organization whose members provide much of the knowledge and expertise in helping restore and rehabilitate many historic properties in Lancaster County.
A partnership between the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County, the County of Lancaster and the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention and Visitors Bureau that seeks to enhance community pride in local heritage resources and provide a diversity of authentic heritage experiences for both residents and visitors. Heritage resources include historic sites and museums, heritage services and heritage events. It's mission is to preserve and interpret the birthplace of Samuel Steman Haldeman by restoring its architecture and communicating its history. The Hourglass Foundation was established to protect the distinct character of Lancaster County and to ensure its proud legacy for future generations by bringing people together, connecting citizens, organizations, communities and governtment to discuss issues and solve growth-related problems.
This is a collaboration between nonprofit organizations, businesses, attorneys, accountants, estate planners, media representatives and civic-minded volunteers to educate the public and promote the concept of charitable giving through bequests and estate plans.
